So, on August 2nd it was my birthday. The Sunday that just passed by. This birthday and the day following brought a lot of changes for me. Some changes I consider substantial (for me, anyways).
The first change was that my sister and I both ended up getting cell-phones.
It's not something I've ever really wanted before... but I decided to jump on the opportunity when it arose. I mean, why not? It's a twenty-five dollar plan for each of us (we're with Koodo, which is an offshoot of Telus) with 100 minutes (it's free from 7pm to 8am the next day and on week-ends) and unlimited texting.
I can't get a custom ringtone without paying for the one's they're offering (so no codec calls :/) but I'm fine with that.
Second, I bought "feminine" clothing and got a new haircut.
Not girlie clothing, mind you, but feminine. I've always been one for t-shirts and jeans, and I've always kept my hair long. I just don't want to seem or feel like one of those ditzy girls in short-skirts and spaghetti-strap tops. I'm more comfortable wearing casual clothes and playing video games.
But I decided to birthday shop for some clothes, and I ended up buying several new outfits. They make me feel more feminine when I wear them, compared to my Decepticon shirt and jeans.
The new haircut is something I'm still getting used to. It's been shortened down to just past my chin, and I've gotten bangs. Yes, bangs. I know most of you have never seen a picture of me before, but I'll tell you that I didn't have bangs before. Not since I was a tiny girl.
It might sound like, with the cell-phone and new look change, I'm becoming more girlie... but I don't feel like that. I'm more feminine, yes. But girlie? No.
I also believe that the reason I've never done this before is because I didn't want to be girlie or feminine. I find the female gender whines a lot and that we focus too much on our looks rather than other things. That's why I turned away from Barbies and make-up to video games and other things.
Now I realise that I can look feminine but also be who I want to be. Just because I look a certain way doesn't mean I have to act a certain way.
And experimenting with my feminine side can be fun, too.
Maybe it makes sense, or maybe it doesn't. It's 2am over where I am, and I'm dead tired. I just felt like writing this before I logged off after spending a few hours on the computer.
Hope you're all doing well too.
